Due today:
- Revised annotated bibliographies are due today. Your bibliography should include 10 peer-reviewed sources and 10 general resources (though be sure to evaluate the credibility of the latter). With respect to the 'annotated' portion of the bibliography, remember that I'm not asking you to give me a brief synopsis of the article alone, rather, I want you to tell me how you will use this particular article in your speech. This will obviously require you to provide some kind of synopsis of the content, but the point is to show me that you've thought about how the content will be relevant to your argument.
- An additional note about bibliographies: the proper format for bibliographic entries can be found in your book and also through the Penn State library reference materials. While books, articles, edited collections, and websites all have some their own specific formats, the most important thing is to provide me with the proper information about the source, i.e. the author, title, publication, and date of publication. Internet addresses and links should not be included unless you are specifically utilizing an article from an Internet-based publication, such as Salon.com.
- I suggest using the Chicago Manual of Style format for this assignment. When you click on the link you will see a range of materials that you might utilize in a paper or speech. Each entry features an example of proper citation format for notes as well as the bibliography -- you will be using the latter for this assignment. For example...
This is how you cite a book written by a single author. The first example is the kind of citation you would use in the context of a paper (Chicago Style uses endnotes), and the second example shows how the same text would be cited in a bibliography...that's the one you want.
